Gujarat is building large renewable-energy zones that will produce electricity from sources such as wind and solar.
These zones are far from some of the places that need the electricity.
A new transmission project will help carry the power to South Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The project is expected to cost about ₹5,300 crore.
It will include a large electricity substation near Nashik.
It will also build about 320 kilometers of high-voltage power lines.
Ceigall India was selected to develop and operate the system.
The company will receive an annual transmission charge of ₹608.67 crore.
This project is only one part of the larger network needed to connect all 14 GW of planned power.

The project includes a 765/400 kV substation at Nashik, equipped with three 1,500 MVA transformers.
Approximately 320 km of transmission lines will connect South Olpad in Gujarat with Nashik and Pimpalgaon in Maharashtra.

Part-B covers only one component of the wider network and will operate for 35 years after a 36-month construction period.
