Meta Ads Breach: Beijing Agency's AI Apps on Facebook, Instagram
A group called the Tech Transparency Project made a report on July 27, 2026.
They found that Facebook and Instagram had shown many ads that broke Meta’s rules.
Most of those ads were put on by a Beijing agency called GatherOne, which Meta lets run ads for Chinese companies.
The report said GatherOne ran about 30,800 ads, and 7,600 of them were for apps that could digitally undress women.
GatherOne also gets a lot of ads each month and won four awards at a Meta event in Hong Kong in 2026.
The report says Meta is okay with this because GatherOne is a valuable partner.
TTP report found thousands of ads violating Meta’s rules on Facebook and Instagram.
Most ads were placed by Beijing‑based agency GatherOne, approved by Meta for Chinese firms.
TTP identified 210 pages naming GatherOne in EU disclosures, about 30,800 ads, 7,600 promoting apps that could digitally undress women.
GatherOne runs over 30,000 ads a month and won four awards at a Meta event in Hong Kong in 2026.
TTP argues Meta tolerates rule‑breaking from a valuable partner.
