On this day, the country celebrates being free.

This year was the 80th time India celebrated this special day.

The celebration happened at a famous old fort called the Red Fort.

The leader of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, led the celebration.

Almost 5,000 special guests were invited, including farmers, inventors, and businesswomen.

More than 1,500 people wore colorful traditional clothes from different parts of India.

The celebration was also for the 150th birthday of India's national song, 'Vande Mataram'.

For the first time ever, this song was sung at the Red Fort celebration.

It was a happy day to thank the people who help India grow.
