5,000 Special Guests Attend India's 80th Independence Day Celebrations
India has its own special birthday called Independence Day.
On this day, the country celebrates being free.
This year was the 80th time India celebrated this special day.
The celebration happened at a famous old fort called the Red Fort.
The leader of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, led the celebration.
Almost 5,000 special guests were invited, including farmers, inventors, and businesswomen.
More than 1,500 people wore colorful traditional clothes from different parts of India.
The celebration was also for the 150th birthday of India's national song, 'Vande Mataram'.
For the first time ever, this song was sung at the Red Fort celebration.
It was a happy day to thank the people who help India grow.
Nearly 5,000 special guests from diverse backgrounds attended the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations on August 15.
Invitees included women entrepreneurs, young innovators, farmers, scientists, sanitation workers, Delhi Metro workers and beneficiaries of various government schemes.
Over 1,500 people from various states and Union territories dressed in traditional attire attended the ceremony.
The celebrations marked 150 years of the national song 'Vande Mataram', which was rendered at the Red Fort for the first time.
