NDMC Expands Civic Preparations Ahead of BRICS Summit
The New Delhi Municipal Council is preparing the city for the upcoming BRICS Summit.
It wants roads and public places to be clean, green and well maintained.
Officials have divided 41 important roads into 14 areas for closer supervision.
Extra cleaning workers and special night teams will work from September 9 to 14.
The city will also add flowers, landscaping, lighting and temporary public facilities.
Teams will repair potholes, check toilets, manage drainage and remove illegally parked vehicles.
Medical teams, ambulances and mosquito-control measures will also be prepared.
A control room will watch civic services and help fix problems quickly.
NDMC will work with police, government agencies, hotels and local groups to manage the event.
NDMC has divided 41 major roads into 14 circles, each supervised by a dedicated Nodal Officer.
Round-the-clock sanitation from September 9 to 14 will include extra workers, night teams and mechanical cleaning equipment.
Beautification plans cover 15 floral-board sites, nine floral-fountain locations and 17 roundabouts.
A 24x7 control room and Command and Control Centre will monitor civic services through CCTV, field reports and inspections.
NDMC will coordinate with government agencies, hotels, resident groups and market associations on cleanliness, traffic, health and public-space management.
