Govt Spent ₹557.51 Crore on Modi's Foreign Visits Since 2021
Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels to other countries to meet their leaders and sign deals.
These trips are called foreign visits, and they cost money for flights, hotels and security.
The Indian government told Parliament that Modi's foreign visits between 2021 and July 2026 cost ₹557.51 crore.
That is a very big amount of money.
Most of it was spent in 2025, when Modi visited 23 countries.
His visits in 2026 cost about ₹74.59 crore, but that number is not final because many bills have not been paid yet.
One report said the 2026 figure covered 13 trips, while another said it covered 12 countries.
The trips helped India sign 316 agreements with other countries.
India also received $381.8 billion in foreign investment between April 2021 and December 2025, though the reports do not show how much of that came from the trips.
The external affairs ministry told the Rajya Sabha that ₹557.51 crore was spent on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visits to 77 countries between 2021 and July 2026.
Modi's 2026 trips cost a tentative ₹74.59 crore — reported as 13 foreign trips in one reply and 12 countries in another — with the France G20 visit excluded.
2025 was the costliest year at ₹187.83 crore for 23 countries; an earlier ministry reply cited 16 countries by end of July costing ₹143.889 crore.
The Norway visit in May (₹17.46 crore) was the most expensive 2026 trip, followed by Israel (₹11.92 crore) and Seychelles (₹8.22 crore).
Minister of State Pabitra Margherita said the visits produced 316 agreements and that India received $381.8 billion in foreign direct investment between April 2021 and December 2025.
