Andhra Pradesh To Tighten Norms for Private AYUSH Hospitals

The government of Andhra Pradesh, a state in India, wants to make sure private hospitals offering AYUSH treatments are safe and good.

AYUSH is a word that covers old-style medicines like ayurveda, yoga, unani, siddha and homoeopathy.

Now the government wants these private hospitals to follow clear rules, so it is creating new norms.

Under the new rules, every private AYUSH hospital must register with the government.

When a hospital applies, it gets a temporary permission that lasts for 90 days.

Two doctor experts will visit the hospital within 10 days to check the rooms, equipment, doctors, nurses, cleanliness and emergency care.

If everything is in order, the hospital gets a permanent permission valid for five years.

Hospitals must also show their prices and the names and registration numbers of doctors in Telugu and English.

The government is asking people and experts to share their ideas about the draft rules before they are finalised.

This way, everyone can help make sure AYUSH hospitals provide safe and fair healthcare.
