Seven Bangladeshi nationals arrested trying to cross border in Murshidabad

Police in a town called Lalgola, in India, got a secret tip that a group of people was trying to cross the border without permission.

They went to a field in the Boyra-Mirpur area and found seven people from Bangladesh.

None of them had the proper papers needed to be in India or to cross the border.

The group said they were from a village called Goyeshpur in Bangladesh.

They said they had come to India without permission and worked as construction labourers in a big city called Chennai.

They were trying to go back home to Bangladesh, but they did not use the official border crossing.

Because crossing the border without documents is against the law, the police arrested them.

The state government of West Bengal says it has a 'zero tolerance' policy towards people entering the country without permission.

Police are still checking how the group entered India and whether anyone helped them.
