Bhopal Plans 20-Tonne Green Waste Processing Plant Near AIIMS
Bhopal is planning a new plant near AIIMS to handle waste from trees and gardens.
This waste includes branches, shrubs and trimmings.
Machines will shred the waste into a sawdust-like material.
That material can be used to make bio-briquettes.
The plant should process up to 20 tonnes of green waste every day.
A shredding machine has already reached the site.
Construction is expected to take about a month, followed by installation of other machines.
Officials hope the project will reduce dumping and burning of green waste.
The city is also expected to receive about Rs 50,000 each month from the plant.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation shifted the proposed bio-briquette plant from Anna Nagar to an area near AIIMS.
The facility is designed to process 20 tonnes of horticultural waste daily.
A shredding machine has arrived, while civil work is expected to be completed within a month.
Private agency Eco Hygiene will invest Rs 2 crore and manage operations and maintenance.
The plant is expected to reduce illegal dumping and open burning while generating about Rs 50,000 monthly royalty for BMC.
