Forged BMC Birth Certificates Expand Bhopal Fake Passport Racket
Police in Bhopal are investigating a suspected fake passport racket.

Police found five counterfeit birth certificates allegedly issued by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation were used in passport applications.
The documents closely resembled genuine certificates, but their QR and bar codes could not be scanned.
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation said signatures on the certificates did not match the tenure of the former registrar.
Authorities linked 30 passports to Buddha Vihar Colony and 39 to Ashok Buddha Vihar monastery.
The passports were issued in 2021, 2022 and 2023 during an investigation into people allegedly migrating from Bangladesh to India.
