Bhopal Municipal Corporation Makes Credibility Verification Mandatory for Building Permissions

The city government of Bhopal, called the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, has made new rules for people who want to build houses, shops, or tall buildings.

Before, some people got permission to build one thing but built something different instead.

Now, the Corporation will check that people are trustworthy before giving building permission.

Builders must also pay a small fee of 2% for supervision.

The Corporation found many cases where people got permission to build homes but built shops instead.

Some people even built extra floors that were not allowed.

The Corporation made a lot of money from building permissions, over 51 crore rupees in less than a year.

To keep better track, the municipal commissioner has put city planners in charge of each area.

Officials will now report how much money comes from building permissions during regular meetings.

The Corporation is also checking homes that are being used as shops without permission.
