FDA Seizes 1.19 Lakh Kg Edible Oil Worth ₹1.94 Crore In Beed, Suspends 5 Licences · freepressjournal.in

Some people who sell cooking oil in the Beed area of Maharashtra were not following the rules.

They used dirty old tins, kept the oil in unsafe places, and put wrong labels on the oil.

The food safety officers, called the FDA, went to check on these sellers.

The officers found five shops that were breaking the rules.

They took away a huge amount of oil — more than one lakh kilograms, worth about Rs 1.94 crore.

They also cancelled the licences of these five shops, which meant the shops had to close.

The officers sent 27 samples of the oil to be tested in a laboratory.

They did this as part of a special campaign called 'Safe Food, Safe Maharashtra.'

The FDA also told everyone to only buy oil from licensed shops and to check the labels and dates before buying.
