Telangana Voters Miss Enumeration Deadline; Declarations Required for Fresh Applications
Did not submit enumeration form? ECI will seek declaration for fresh applications · thehansindia.com

Many adults in Telangana must be listed on a special voters list to be allowed to vote.

The Election Commission gave everyone on the list a paper called an enumeration form to fill out.

The form helps officials check who lives where, who has moved away, and who should stay on the list.

The last day to hand in the form was August 10.

But more than 60 lakh people did not return their forms on time.

Officials warned that people who do not return the form could have their names removed from the voters list.

People who want to be put back on the list must write a declaration letter explaining why they were late.

If the Election Commission is not satisfied with the explanation, the person may receive a notice.

Even big cities had low return rates, like Hyderabad, where only about 58 out of every 100 people returned their forms.

The final voters list will be published on October 19.
