KSRTC Bus Falls Into Gorge, One Passenger Dies
A bus from the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation was driving from Nelliyampathy to Nenmara when it lost control and fell into a gorge near Pothundy.
The bus got stuck between trees, and the front passenger, a 53‑year‑old woman named Jayanthi, was thrown out and trapped.
She died, and many other passengers were hurt, with two people seriously injured.
Firefighters and police rescued everyone and took the injured to a hospital in Nelliyampathy.
Police think the bus’s brakes might have failed and are investigating the driver.
A KSRTC bus veered off the road and fell into a gorge near Pothundy, Palakkad, killing one passenger.
The deceased, 53‑year‑old Jayanthi of Nelliyampathy, was thrown from the front of the bus and trapped between a tree and the vehicle.
Of the 72 passengers on board, most were injured; two sustained serious injuries and were taken to Nelliyampathy hospital.
Police suspect brake failure caused the crash and have registered a case against the driver.
Fire and Rescue Services and police rescued all passengers and are investigating the incident.
