Anakapalli Panchayat Workers Sweep Roads in Wage Protest

Some workers who clean the streets in a place called Anakapalli were very upset because they had not been paid for a long time.

They work for village panchayats, which are like small local governments in India.

To show how unhappy they were, the workers cleaned the roads outside a government office as a protest.

They said their wages had not been paid for three to eight months.

This made it very hard for their families to buy food and other things they needed.

The workers also asked for a health allowance of 4,000 rupees every month that the government had promised them.

They wanted uniforms, towels, shoes, coconut oil, and gloves for their work.

The workers said they would keep protesting and even stop working if they were not paid soon.

They hope the government will listen and help them.
