Pune SIR hearings begin September 28 after 19,945 notices distributed
Officials in Pune are checking the voter list through a process called a Special Intensive Revision.
Some voters could not be matched to records or had information that appeared unusual.
These voters are receiving notices.
They must attend a hearing if they want to clear their names for the voter list.
The hearings are scheduled to start on September 28.
By September 24, more than 12 lakh notices had been created.
Booth Level Officers had delivered nearly 20,000 notices.
Earlier estimates said about 13.3 lakh voters might need hearings.
Pune district has begun distributing notices to voters marked “unmapped” or flagged for logical discrepancies or anomalies.
Hearings for the affected voters are scheduled to begin Monday, September 28.
Officials said 12,03,715 notices had been generated by September 24.
Booth Level Officers had distributed 19,945 of those notices.
A probable count published with the August 31 draft SIR list identified 13,32,418 voters for hearings.
