Thane Ring Metro Alignment Revised to Reduce Displacement, Boost Connectivity
A big city called Thane wants to build a new train called the Thane Ring Metro.
The first plan for the train's route was not very good.
It would have forced almost 1,500 families to leave their homes.
It also left out about 100,000 people who live in crowded neighbourhoods.
A leader named Pratap Sarnaik found these problems and told the Deputy Chief Minister about them.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, agreed and asked for a new plan for the train route.
The new route gives more people easy access to the train and won't make many people move from their homes.
It also passes through places where lots of people live so more riders can use it.
This will help many families travel easily and makes the project better for the whole city.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed authorities to revise the Thane Ring Metro alignment to minimise displacement and improve connectivity.
The directive follows recommendations from Transport Minister and Owala-Majiwada MLA Pratap Sarnaik, who sent Shinde an official letter of thanks.
The original route from Wagle Estate to Upvan via Lokmanya Nagar Bus Depot would have displaced nearly 1,500 families in Lokmanya Nagar.
The initial blueprint also threatened Upvan Industries near the Air Force Shooting Range and the Upvan Art Festival, while excluding around 100,000 residents in high-density areas.
The alternative alignment runs through Wagle Estate, Lokmanya Nagar Bus Depot, Runnel Plaza, Vartak Nagar and Pokhran Road, offering minimal displacement and wider commuter coverage.
