Seven Madhya Pradesh labourers find 17.96-carat diamond in abandoned mine

Seven workers in India were digging for diamonds.

They had rented a small, shallow mine in a village called Sarokha.

For months, they didn't find anything valuable, so they stopped working.

They left that mine untouched for nearly a year.

Then they started working on another mine nearby.

After heavy rains, they decided to check the old mine again.

One worker, Akhilesh Pal, saw a stone lying near the top of the ground.

It turned out to be a diamond!

The diamond weighs 17.96 carats and is gem quality.

It could be sold at auction for close to Rs 50 lakh, which is a huge amount of money, so the workers might have struck it rich.
