Fourteen Ancient Gold Coins Found During Rural Work
Workers doing a rural employment project found 14 gold coins underground in Inchala village.
The coins look very old and may be between 800 and 1,000 years old.
Each coin weighs about the same amount, and together they weigh nearly 55 grams.
One side of each coin shows an elephant.
The workers gave all the coins to local officials and police.
A jewellery shop estimated that they might be worth about Rs 8.20 lakh.
Officials said this is only an early estimate.
Experts from the archaeology department will study the coins to learn their age, origin and historical value.
Until then, the coins are being kept safely by the treasury department.
