13-Km Power Corridor Advances Indore Metro Phase-I Infrastructure
A new electricity line has been built to help power the Indore Metro.
The line is nearly 13 kilometers long and connects Jaitpura with MR-10.
It will provide electricity to a planned Metro receiving station.
Building the line was difficult because many people live along the route.
Engineers used special narrow towers, poles and underground cables to fit into the crowded area.
A large 160 MVA transformer was also added at the Jaitpura substation.
Three grid stations will help supply electricity to the Metro’s first phase.
The work was coordinated by Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company and the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company constructed a nearly 13-km, 132 kV double-circuit corridor from Jaitpura to MR-10.
The corridor will supply the proposed Indore Metro receiving substation at MR-10.
Narrow-base towers, monopoles and underground cables were used because the route passes through densely populated urban areas.
An additional 160 MVA transformer was installed at the 220 kV Jaitpura substation in January 2025.
Grid stations at Depalpur, Jaitpura and Manglia will support three proposed Metro receiving substations, each expected to require about 40 MVA.
