Mumbai Local Trains Delayed 45 Minutes After Thane Station Snag
On Thursday morning, a train at Thane station in Mumbai stopped working because of a technical problem.
The train was called T-36 and arrived at Platform No.
4 at 8:42 am.
Because it was broken, it was cancelled and sent to the Kurla Car Shed to be repaired.
It stayed on the track for 21 minutes, blocking the line.
Many trains behind it had to wait, and passengers were delayed for up to 45 minutes.
Lots of office workers and college students were affected during the busy morning rush hour, with big crowds at several stations.
Later, a passenger on a different train felt sick near Parel station.
Railway police and station staff gave him first aid and juice when the train reached Dadar.
He was advised to go to Sion Hospital but declined, and went home with his family.
It happened less than a month after another air-conditioned local had a cooling failure on July 14 that sent two commuters to hospital.
A technical fault in the T-36 suburban local at Thane station on Thursday cancelled the train and disrupted Central Railway's Up Slow line for 40-45 minutes.
The train occupied Platform No. 4 for 21 minutes (8:42 am to 9:03 am) before being moved empty to the Kurla Car Shed for repairs.
Thousands of office-goers and college students faced delays, with heavy crowds at Thane, Mulund, Bhandup, Kanjurmarg, Vikhroli and Ghatkopar stations.
In a separate incident, a passenger on Down Slow train K25 fell ill near Parel; railway staff gave first aid at Dadar and he declined hospitalisation.
The incident came less than a month after an AC local's air-conditioning failure on July 14 forced two commuters to be hospitalised.
