China said President Xi Jinping will attend an important regional meeting in Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting is called the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit.

It will happen in Bishkek on August 31 and September 1.

Xi may meet India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi there.

Such a meeting could help clarify whether Xi will attend the BRICS Summit in New Delhi next month.

China has not yet confirmed that visit.

Indian and Chinese officials also recently discussed their border questions in Beijing.

They said they wanted better communication and stronger cooperation.
