Mumbai's Historic Laxmi Nivas Bungalow Set for Luxury Tower Redevelopment
Laxmi Nivas is an old bungalow in Mumbai near the sea.
It was reportedly used as a hiding place by leaders during the Quit India Movement.
The bungalow became damaged and was demolished.
A company now plans to build a tall luxury apartment tower there.
The tower would be 110.6 metres high and have 21 upper floors.
It would include parking, homes, a swimming pool and other facilities.
Coastal authorities said the rebuilding could be allowed under certain rules.
The developer also wants to build a small private museum on the property.
Laxmi Nivas on Mumbai’s Nepean Sea Road is slated for redevelopment.
The proposed residential tower will be 110.6 metres tall with 21 upper floors.
Vageshwari Properties acquired the property from the Kapadia family for Rs 276 crore in February 2025.
The project includes parking, amenities, a fitness centre, swimming pool, garden and evacuation level.
Maharashtra’s coastal authority recommended the project, which also proposes a private, non-commercial museum.
