Maharashtra Showcases 7-55 Tonne Electric Trucks for Green Transport

Maharashtra, a state in India, is pushing for cleaner and more sustainable transport.

The state showed off new electric trucks that run on batteries instead of fuel.

The trucks come in many sizes, from 7 tonnes up to 55 tonnes.

They were made by Tata Motors, which called them India's first complete battery-electric truck range.

Indian engineers in the city of Pune designed and developed them.

One full charge can take a truck around 350 kilometers, and the batteries can be recharged quickly.

Electric trucks can reduce emissions and cut fuel and operating costs.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said this is an important milestone in India's green transport revolution.

He said the change could also create jobs in battery technology, manufacturing and vehicle servicing.

The trucks are part of India's plan to reach a net-zero target by the year 2070.
