India celebrates its Independence Day every year on August 15.

This year was the 80th time India celebrated becoming independent.

Even though Indians live all over the world, they still celebrate this special day.

The Indian Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, hoisted the Indian flag at the Indian Embassy in Beijing.

Many Indian people living in China came to watch, even though it was raining very hard.

The Ambassador read a special message from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

He also gave prizes to people who won different competitions.

Children performed songs and dances as part of the celebration.

Another Indian diplomat, Pratik Mathur, also hoisted the flag in Shanghai, where 400 people joined the event.

It was a happy day for Indians living far away from home.
