Ayush Institute Launches Six-Month Maternal Healthcare Support Course
AIIA has started a six-month course to train people to support pregnant women and new mothers.
The course is called the Garbhini Mitra Course.
Students will learn about healthy food, safe exercises and emotional support.
They will also learn about caring for newborns, cleanliness and basic life support.
The course uses some Ayurvedic ideas about pregnancy and recovery.
These workers will not replace doctors or perform medical check-ups.
They will help women notice warning signs and reach doctors when needed.
The course is for adults who have completed Class 12.
The All India Institute of Ayurveda introduced the six-month Garbhini Mitra Course for community-level maternal healthcare support workers.
The programme covers Ayurvedic antenatal, postnatal and pre-conception care, nutrition, pregnancy-safe yoga, emotional support and basic life support.
Training will be held offline at AIIA’s Sarita Vihar campus from Monday to Friday, 3 pm to 5 pm.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have passed Class 12; each batch will have 20 students, with applications due August 31.
Graduates may provide education and non-clinical support but cannot conduct check-ups or diagnostic monitoring, and must refer warning signs to medical professionals.
