Kerala Faces Flood Threat After Torrential Rain, Nine Dead

Kerala, a state in India, got hit by very heavy rain on August 3, 2024.

The rain was so strong that it caused floods and made nine people lose their lives.

Because of the danger, all schools were closed for the day.

The state’s chief minister, V.D. Satheesan, and the tourism minister, P.C. Vishnunadh, met with local officials to plan how to help people and keep them safe.

They also checked the situation in the Sabarimala area, where the river was rising fast.

The weather department said that some places got more than 100 millimeters of rain, which is a lot for a short time.

The government warned people in low places to move to safer spots to avoid more flooding.
