Akhilesh Yadav Redefines PDA's 'P' as Pandit to Woo Brahmins
Uttar Pradesh is a large state in India where people will vote in 2027 to choose their leaders.
A leader named Akhilesh Yadav wants more people to support his party, the Samajwadi Party.
On August 5, he spoke to a group of Brahmins in Lucknow, the state's capital.
He said the letter 'P' in his party's slogan, PDA, also stands for 'Pandit,' another word for a Brahmin.
Brahmins make up about 10 to 14 out of every 100 people in the state, and many of them usually vote for a different party called the BJP.
Akhilesh also said the BJP has been unfair to Brahmins and that it took offerings meant for Lord Ram at a famous temple in Ayodhya.
He honored Janeshwar Mishra, a respected Brahmin leader from his party's history, to show he cares about Brahmins.
Some people think Akhilesh is only being friendly to Brahmins now to win their votes in the coming election.
