Chandipura Virus: Recovering Toddler Shows Why Early Treatment Saves Lives

Some children in Gujarat, India got sick with a virus called Chandipura virus.

They were treated at a hospital called Gandhinagar Civil Hospital.

Over the last month, the hospital took care of three patients with this virus.

One child recovered completely and went home healthy.

Another child was already very sick when they arrived at the hospital and sadly passed away.

A toddler was critically ill and needed a machine called a ventilator to help them breathe.

That toddler has now improved a lot and is in a normal hospital ward.

The toddler's family said the treatment did not cost them anything.

The state government is paying for treatment for all Chandipura virus patients.

Doctors say this shows that getting early treatment can save lives.
