Uttar Pradesh launches anti-drug campaign in universities, colleges

Uttar Pradesh is a big state in India, and its government wants to help young people stay away from drugs.

India's leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asked the whole country to become drug-free.

So the state government made a big plan for colleges and universities.

Every school day will begin with a short promise, called a pledge, where students promise to stay away from drugs.

Teachers will talk to students for ten minutes every week about living a healthy life without drugs.

There will also be fun activities like runs, marathons, speech contests, painting contests and plays.

Shops will not be allowed to sell drugs within half a kilometer of any college or university.

Packages and deliveries will be checked at campus gates so drugs cannot come in secretly.

Students who are using drugs will get help and counseling, and their parents will be told.

Special officers will watch over the campaign across the state to make sure the plan works.
