Hyderabad Hare Krishna Temples Hold Grand Janmashtami Celebrations
Hare Krishna temples in and around Hyderabad celebrated the festival of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.
The festival honors the appearance of Lord Sri Krishna.
Many devotees visited the temple in Banjara Hills to see the decorated deities and receive blessings.
They also took part in a ceremony where small forms of Krishna were gently swung in a cradle.
Priests performed prayers, fire rituals, bathing ceremonies and several offerings of food.
A special ceremony used water brought from seven sacred rivers.
Music, dancing, chanting and talks helped explain the spiritual meaning of the festival.
At midnight, a Maha Mangala Arati was held, followed by more prayers and devotional service.
Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated at the Hare Krishna Golden Temple in Banjara Hills on September 4.
Devotees participated in darshan, Jhulan Seva, abhishekams, bhajans, kirtans and prasadam distribution.
A special 108-Kalasha Abhishekam used sacred waters from seven rivers along with devotional offerings.
The midnight Maha Mangala Arati marked the ceremonial appearance of Lord Sri Krishna.
Parallel celebrations were held at Hare Krishna Heritage Tower in Narsingi and the Hare Krishna Cultural Centre in Kandi.
