APCRDA clears Amaravati projects; L&T bags quantum facility contract
The government that helps build the city of Amaravati in India held a big meeting to decide what to build next.
The leaders approved a plan to build two very tall towers, called Quantum Valley towers, which will be part of a science and technology project.
A big construction company named L&T will build them.
The leaders also approved a ropeway, which is like a cable car that travels above the ground.
It will connect a railway station, a bus station, a temple, a river ghat, an island and another temple so people can travel easily.
They also approved a large data centre that stores computer information and new 5G towers for faster mobile internet.
The leaders will pay farmers who gave their land, and the temple department will get money for its land too.
They also want to build bridges across a big river called Krishna.
The plan is to make Amaravati a modern, high-tech capital city.
APCRDA approved key Amaravati infrastructure and development projects at its 64th authority meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Larsen & Toubro secured the quantum facility project contract, reported at Rs 1,280 crore by one article and Rs 1,205 crore (Quantum Valley towers) by another.
An iconic ropeway under the PPP model will connect Vijayawada Railway Station, PNBS, Kanaka Durga Temple, Punnami Ghat, Bhavani Island and Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
The authority approved land acquisition for the Inner Ring Road and a new railway line, tenders for a 20 MW data centre, and RFPs for 5G towers at 20 locations.
It sanctioned Rs 122 crore for endowment land in Palnadu, ratified ~Rs 300 crore in farmer annuities, and revived the HappyNest housing project with APRERA renewal fees waived.
A consultant will study future bridge needs and an iconic bridge across the Krishna River, supporting the projected one-crore-population Amaravati-Vijayawada-Guntur mega city.
