SEC Emphasizes Active Public Participation for Strong Democracy

In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, a workshop was held to talk about how important it is for people to vote in elections.

The State Election Commissioner, Anil Chandra Punetha, said that democracy works best when people take part actively and responsibly.

He mentioned that voting is not just a right but also a duty.

The workshop also discussed how voter turnout has improved in some places, like West Bengal, where more than 92% of people voted.

They talked about making it easier for people to vote without having to travel or miss work.

Other speakers, like former election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav, also spoke about the importance of voting and how young people should be more involved.

They also talked about new ways to make voting easier, like automatic registration and linking voter IDs with Aadhaar.
