Indian Navy launches 'Shruti', second patrol vessel built by GRSE
The Indian Navy has a new big ship called 'Shruti'.
A ship like this helps protect the ocean and keep sea travel safe.
The ship was built by a company in Kolkata called Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, or GRSE for short.
'Shruti' is the second ship of its kind, called a Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel.
A top Navy officer, Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, spoke at the launch.
He said the Navy must keep the sea lanes open so ships can bring energy and essential goods to India.
The new ship is about as long as a football field and can go very fast.
It can sail about 8,500 nautical miles without stopping.
The ship will help stop pirates, do rescue missions, and provide help after natural disasters.
It will also watch over the sea to keep the coastline safe.

Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu said the Navy must ensure freedom of navigation and secure sea lanes, not just defend national interests.
GRSE is building four vessels under the Indian Navy's 11-ship NGOPV programme.
'Shruti' is about 113 metres long and 14.6 metres wide, reaching speeds up to 23 knots with 8,500 nautical miles endurance.
The NGOPVs will handle coastal protection, surveillance, anti-piracy, counter-infiltration, HADR and search and rescue missions.
