Odisha Police Arrest Alleged Interstate Robber, Eight Associates
Police in Odisha arrested a man they suspect of leading a robbery gang.
Eight other people were arrested with him.
Police say the man fired at officers on August 25 and escaped.
A special team later found him in Jagdalpur, in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
Police say he had recently left jail and formed a new gang.
They link the gang to thefts and robberies at several places, including temples.
Officers recovered jewellery, money, a gun, ammunition and vehicles.
The suspects were sent to judicial custody while police investigate more cases.
Police arrested suspected interstate robber Tuna Harijan alias Siman Nag and eight associates in Odisha’s Koraput district.
Tuna allegedly opened fire at a police patrol team on August 25 before fleeing during an attempted interception.
A special team traced and arrested him in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, on September 3.
Police say more than 40 cases are pending against Tuna in Odisha and 10 others are registered in Chhattisgarh.
Authorities recovered suspected stolen valuables worth about Rs 50 lakh, a firearm, 20 rounds of ammunition, Rs 50,000 and four vehicles.
