Jharkhand government launches HIV awareness campaign, blood donation drive
On International Youth Day, a special day for young people, Jharkhand's health minister started a big campaign to teach people about HIV and AIDS.
The campaign is about understanding HIV and AIDS, preventing it, and getting tested.
A study found that nearly 19 out of every 100 new HIV infections happen to young people between 13 and 24 years old.
So leaders want to spread awareness especially among young people.
The campaign began in a hospital in Ranchi with a special chariot and a walk.
Volunteers and nursing students joined in to share the message about prevention, testing, and treatment.
The government also wants to make sure blood is available quickly, within 15 minutes of a call.
Officials will also find nine districts where HIV is more common and run special programs there.
The campaign will last for one month, and people are being asked to donate blood regularly.
