Heavy Rain Floods Roads in Shivpuri, Rivers Swell in MP

Rain is very important for farmers in India, but too much rain at once can cause trouble.

In a place called Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh, it rained a lot for a few days.

The rain filled roads with water, like giant puddles people could not drive through.

Rivers and drains started flowing very strongly and fast.

In one town called Kolaras, water went over a bridge and covered the road under a railway bridge, so people could not pass.

The route to a village called Ukawal was blocked by the water.

Because it rained so much, the average rainfall went up by about 72 millimetres in just three days.

That is a lot of water!

Some local residents were worried because last year a young man was swept away at the same river crossing during strong water flow.

Even with all this rain, Shivpuri has received much less rain this year than it did last year at the same time.
