Math Meets Movement: dance makes mathematical ideas visible
Some smart grown-ups wanted to show kids that math is not just numbers on paper.
So a group called the Dr. K. V. Rao Scientific Society planned a special show.
It happened at the University of Hyderabad to celebrate the group's 26th birthday.
In the show, dancers used their bodies, rhythm and movement to show math ideas.
They showed things like symmetry, which is when two sides look the same, and patterns that repeat.
The show was called Math Meets Movement.
A professor who is also a famous Kuchipudi dancer helped create it.
The group also gave awards to students for their science projects and board games.
The big idea is that art and dance can help everyone understand math in a fun, new way.
Math Meets Movement used dance, rhythm, movement, patterns and spatial arrangements to present mathematics at the University of Hyderabad.
The presentation was part of the 26th anniversary celebrations of the Dr. K. V. Rao Scientific Society (KVRSS).
It was developed with Prof. J. Anuradha, Vice Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad and Kuchipudi exponent, and Ms. P. B. Vaishnavi, Assistant Professor of Dance at GITAM Hyderabad, along with her team.
The initiative was part of KVRSS's SMART (Science Meets ART) programme, which uses creative formats to present scientific and mathematical concepts to students.
The celebrations also included the 26th Annual Research Awards (167 applications from over 100 institutions), 15th SPARK Innovation Awards and 6th SMART Awards with more than 250 board game entries.
