GITAM University opened a new facility for managing dangerous chemical and biological waste.

The facility is on the university’s campus in Visakhapatnam.

It was created with help from the Department of Science and Technology.

Funding and support came through the PURSE scheme.

S. Anantha Ramakrishna officially opened it on Tuesday.

The facility will be used by research and laboratory units.

It can safely handle used acids and hazardous organic solvents.

It can also temporarily store biological waste.

The goal is to make research safer and more environmentally responsible.
