'Punah Arohya' recital showcases grace and depth of Bharatanatyam

Last Saturday, two dancers named Nandini and Shreya put on a beautiful Indian classical dance show called 'Punah Arohya'.

Their teacher, Praveena Vadapalli, trained them and also played cymbals during the show.

The dance style is called Bharatanatyam, one of the oldest and most graceful dance forms of India.

Before the dance started, a musician named Sairam played the flute.

The dancers performed many different traditional pieces, including stories about gods and goddesses.

In one story, a lady waits all night for her lord; in another, the playful boy Krishna talks with his mother Yashoda.

They wore beautiful costumes and moved together so perfectly that they looked like mirror images.

At the end, everyone in the audience clapped loudly because the performance was so wonderful.

A live band with singers, drummers and a violin player helped make the show special.
