Breakaway group quietly takes over attached Jamat-e-Islami office in Shopian
A long time ago, a big group called Jamat-e-Islami was not allowed to work anymore, and the government took over its office in a place called Shopian.
Four years went by.
Now, a new group called the Justice and Development Front has moved into that same office.
This new group is made up of people from the old banned group.
They put up a banner with their name on the building in Shopian.
They also opened another office in a building in Srinagar.
That building belongs to a trust called Falah-e-Aam, which used to run hundreds of schools.
The government had taken over those schools earlier.
Even though everyone can see the new group is using the old office, the people in charge have not said anything about it.
The administration attached the Jamat-e-Islami office in Shopian under the UAPA four years ago after the outfit was banned.
The Justice and Development Front (JDF), a breakaway group of Jamat-e-Islami, has quietly established its office on the attached Shopian premises.
The JDF has also set up its office in a building owned by the Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT) in Srinagar.
Falah-e-Aam, an independent educational trust linked to Jamat, ran hundreds of schools across Jammu and Kashmir before they were taken over by the government.
The administration has seemingly taken no action despite a banner announcing the JDF's name at the Shopian premises.
