Police in Jammu and Kashmir took control of several properties in the Sopore area.

The properties included a school, six shops and two kanals of land.

Police said the properties were connected to Jamaat-e-Islami, a proscribed organisation.

The school, called Islamia Model School, has been closed since 2022.

Officials checked government and land records during their investigation.

The Kashmir divisional commissioner notified the properties under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

A district magistrate then issued the required orders.

Police and an executive magistrate carried out the attachment.

The action was part of efforts to identify and proceed against assets linked to proscribed organisations.
