A new flyover is opening in Hyderabad on Thursday.

It is called the Chanchalguda–Santoshnagar Steel Flyover.

The road is 3.32 kilometres long and has four lanes.

It connects several busy areas, including Chanchalguda, Saidabad and IS Sadan.

Today, a trip between Chanchalguda Printing Press and IS Sadan can take about 30 minutes in heavy traffic.

Officials expect the flyover to reduce that trip to about five minutes.

The project cost is reported as Rs.

620 crore, although the listed civil-work and land-acquisition figures add up to more.

The project was delayed for four years because of the Covid-19 pandemic and land acquisition problems.

It may also help people travelling to defence research offices.

Quotes

Md. Naveed

A commuter from Akbarbagh discussing the flyover’s expected effect on traffic.

“Finally, this flyover is being opened; while the works were underway, the traffic snarls were worse. Due to this flyover to reach Chandrayangutta from Malakpet, we can skip the Chanchalguda, Saidabad, Madannapet and IS Sadan, junctions that experience traffic jams.”
