India Urges Semiconductor Diversification Through Smart Global Partnerships

India wants to become stronger in making important computer chips.

Vikram Misri said relying on only one or two countries can create problems.

He said India should find more partners and avoid having a single point of failure.

Being self-reliant does not mean making everything inside India.

Instead, India should build the skills and factories that are especially important to it.

It can work with foreign companies for equipment, materials and other expertise.

India is focusing on chip design, packaging and selected manufacturing activities.

Misri also advised companies to build long-term partnerships based on trust and complementary strengths.
