Telangana CM Promotes Vegetable Cultivation with Subsidies
The Telangana chief minister told state officials to help farmers grow more vegetables.
He said the government will give seeds at a big discount, about 75% off.
The plan also helps farmers learn new ways to grow crops and keeps their irrigation pumps running.
A special committee said the state should make plans for each village to grow safe crops when the weather is bad.
They also want to help farmers sell their produce and start dairy farms.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to promote vegetable cultivation across Telangana, especially near centralized kitchens for school meals.
The government will supply seeds at a 75% subsidy for pulses, oilseeds, millets, and vegetables.
An expert committee submitted an emergency action plan to address El Nino impacts, recommending village‑wise contingency plans and new loans for alternative crops.
Measures include appointing extension officers, providing technical guidance from agricultural university scientists, and ensuring uninterrupted power supply for irrigation.
The plan also proposes transport to Rythu Bazaars, financial assistance for dairy units, and village‑level teams to monitor implementation.
