Construction equipment sales up 46 per cent in July
Big machines like diggers and cranes are used to build roads and buildings.
In July 2026, many more of these machines were sold than in July last year.
Sales went up by 46 percent, from about 3,766 machines to 5,501 machines.
One reason is that last year's heavy rains stopped a lot of building work.
This year, the rain was different, so building projects could keep going.
New pollution rules also made companies buy newer machines.
Every one of the top five machine companies sold a lot more.
JCB India sold the most machines of all.
Another company, Escorts Kubota, sold more than twice as many machines as it did last year.
Experts say the big jump is partly because last year's sales were very low.
Construction equipment (wheeled) retail sales rose 46 per cent year-on-year in July 2026 to 5,501 units from 3,766 units a year earlier.
JCB India retained its dominant position as market leader, with Action Construction Equipment in second place.
Escorts Kubota registered the strongest growth among the top five OEMs, with its construction equipment sales more than doubling.
Growth was attributed to a lower base last year, implementation of BSV emission norms, and a pick-up in infrastructure activity.
All top five manufacturers recorded double-digit growth, according to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
