PM-KISAN scheme boosts farming in Kathua, farmers report higher profits
The Indian government has a special program called PM-KISAN that helps small farmers.
Every four months, the program puts Rs 2,000 into each farmer's bank account.
In a place called Sarthal Valley in Kathua, farmers used to struggle to pay for seeds, fertilisers and water.
The money from the program helps them pay for these things without borrowing too much money.
Now they can grow lots of vegetables like potatoes, peas and cauliflower.
They sell these vegetables to markets in their own state and to nearby states like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
A farmer named Pritam Singh thanked the Prime Minister for the help.
The Agriculture Department also gives farmers good seeds and teaches them better ways to farm.
Because of all this, farmers are growing more food and earning more money.
