The Kerala government plans to build a large sea wall to help stop the erosion.
The project is expected to cost Rs 93.22 crore.
It will protect a 1,700-metre stretch of coastline.
Eleven structures made from concrete blocks called tetrapods will help reduce the force of the waves.
A walkway will also be built on top of the wall.
