India’s Key Infrastructure Sector Output Rises 5.4% in July

India measures the output of important infrastructure industries each month.

In July, these industries produced 5.4% more than before.

Coal, refinery products, cement, electricity and iron ore helped drive the increase.

Production of crude oil, natural gas and fertiliser went down.

The index now includes nine sectors instead of eight because iron ore was added.

The government also changed the comparison base year to 2022-23.

From April through July 2026-27, the sectors grew 4.3%.

That was higher than the 1.5% growth recorded during the same period a year earlier.
