FDA Awaits Replies From Five MCA Restaurants Over Third-Party Operations
The food safety department in Maharashtra is checking five restaurants at a cricket association’s property.
The Mumbai Cricket Association has the food licenses for these restaurants.
However, the restaurants are reportedly being run by a different company.
The food department says that company must have its own licenses.
The department sent notices asking for explanations.
The restaurants had earlier been closed over hygiene and building-related problems.
The Bombay High Court later helped lead to the suspension being lifted.

Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration is awaiting replies from five MCA restaurants over third-party operating arrangements.
FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said MCA holds the food-business licenses, while another operator allegedly runs the venues without licenses or registration.
The venues are Permit Room, Pavilion, Mediterranean, Oriental Swing, and Clubway & Pastry Counter.
The FDA had suspended their licenses over alleged hygiene and structural violations before the Bombay High Court intervened.
The restaurants’ operator must obtain the required license, according to the FDA commissioner.
