AP launches El Nino action plan to protect Kharif crops

El Nino is a big weather pattern that can make rains weaker, which is bad for farmers.

The government of Andhra Pradesh, a state in India, made a special plan to help farmers during the 2026 growing season.

The plan is called 'Rythanna Meekosam – El Nino Effect Mitigation Action Plan.'

The government will use special centers called Rythu Seva Kendrams, where helpers will visit each farmer.

These helpers will check how the crops are doing and if plants need water or are sick.

They will write down what they see using a computer system called e-Crop.

Then they will give each farmer advice on saving crops, like watering carefully or planting different crops.

The government will track progress on special dashboards at State, district, mandal and center levels.

They will also make sure every farmer can get messages on a special Farmer App.

The goal is to make sure crops survive even with less rain, so farmers can still grow food and earn money.
